Jamie Trana, LMFT
Coralville and Telehealth

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist trained in family systems and work with youth 6 -17 and adults, with a special interest in helping 2SLGBTQIA+ folx, Spanish speaking individuals, and couples/families. I have 15+ years of experience working in the field of disability social work in all capacities.

I hold additional certifications in mindfulness and meditation practices and offer Walk & Talk therapy services for those who enjoy being outside or moving rather than stuck on a couch! During our initial sessions, we'll collaborate to create a plan that best suits you & helps get you back to life.

As a queer therapist who is fluent in Spanish, I am committed to upholding a culturally responsive practice, and helping you notice how family of origin, culture, and societal norms influence you. My space is an environment of curiosity, understanding and acceptance. I believe in transformative processes and reinterpreting who we are and what we believe by remaining open to new possibilities. If any of this rings true for you, then we may be a good fit! I trust we all have moments of genuine compassion for others, and therefore, can learn to make room for those same moments for ourselves. Self-compassion is key to experiencing lasting change and can be fostered by practicing vulnerability, awareness and acceptance. I am dedicated to helping you connect with your inner wisdom to explore your own individual path to healing. I have lived in Iowa my entire life with the exception of the year I spent abroad in Mexico. It was there I became fluent in Spanish and returned to receive a BA in Spanish from the University of Iowa in 2003. I graduated from Mount Mercy University in 2022 with a Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy. In my free time I enjoy crafting, being outdoors with my family +doggos and playing pool with my friends. “As we learn to have compassion with ourselves, the circle of compassion for others - what and whom we can work with, and how - becomes wider” ~ Pema Chodron
